The Welcome / Ushering committee is an important and crucial ministry, because it is one of the most visible in the church. Ushers are often the first voice and interaction visitors and members experience at church. This department is made up of personnel from all ages across the church membership and are representatives of God who demonstrate His love toward every visitor and member.
Some of the duties and responsibilities include:
- Greeting worshippers and making them feel welcome and comfortable
- Escorting visitors (and members) to available seats
- Being friendly and having a welcoming smile
- Keeping reverence in the sanctuary
- Handing out welcome cards and gifts, distributing weekly bulletins
- Directing visitors to various facilities provided by the church
- Being alert to members and visitors’ needs and emergencies
The overall mission for this department is to be of service to the church family and visitors when needed, in order to further the Lord’s message of loving one another even as God has loved us.
